2. | A Guide for Coronary Artery Patients Elçin Sebahat Kasapoğlu, Nuray Enç doi: 10.5543/khd.2017.42713 Pages 1 - 7 It is important to know the risk factors of coronary artery disease (CAD), which is among the diseases with high mortality rates in the world and our country, and to educate the patients in this respect is important in preventing diseases. The article will provide guidance to the nurses who have an important place in patient education about the content plan and the language they should use in patient education. The contents and the language of the guide are summarized as follows: Coronary artery disease (CAD) occurs in your arteries in the formation of plaque, called atherosclerosis due to various reasons. Atherosclerosis occurred in your arteries obstruct your blood’s flow. The incidence of coronary artery disease is increasing with the progress of your age. There is symptoms of the coronary artery disease such as angina pectoris, dispnea, leg edema, change in level blood cholestrol. Being aware of these signs and symptoms and reducing your risk factors by changing your lifestyle. Therefore, you should change your lifestyle by giving up smoking, avoiding to get exposed to smoke, giving attention rate of salt and fat in your diet, exercising, managing your weight and keeping away from stres. It is important that you have information about sign and symptoms of disease. You should get information from your heart specialist and nurse about preventing coronary art disease and decreasing the incidance of it and also controlling and managing tha artery disease you already have. Health education given by nurses about CAD, risk factors and disease management will reduce the mortality and morbidity rates of CAD. |
3. | Sodium Consumption And The Role Of Nursing In Heart Failure Ebru Konal, Melek Ardahan doi: 10.5543/khd.2017.21939 Pages 8 - 13 Heart failure (HF) is a chronic disease with a high incidence and prevalence rate both in our country and in the world, which is a major public health problem with increasing incidence with age. HF etiology is the most common cause of coronary artery diseases and hypertension with many chronic diseases. It is the most important determinant of disease development especially in cases of high blood pressure (BP). Consumption of nutrients with high sodium content is also considered as an independent risk-taker. Increased sodium intake, especially during hypertensive episodes, is the basis for the development of HF, leading to increased mortality and morbidity. To reduce mortality and morbidity in HF, various guidelines recommend restricting the amount of sodium taken in the diet. In this review, the relationship between HF and sodium, the effect of sodium restriction on dietary HF, and the role of the nurse are emphasized. |

4. | Retrospective Analysis of Patients Applied Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Afife Yurttaş, Özlem Öztürk, Esin Kavuran doi: 10.5543/khd.2017.24633 Pages 14 - 19 INTRODUCTION: The objective of this study was to evaluate retrospective analysis of patients applied left ventricular assist device (LVAD) METHODS: The population of the study is consist of patients who were LVAD between March 2011 and September 2014 in Ankara University Medical School, Cebeci Research and Application Hospital, Cardiovascular Surgery Department. In this research, without using the sampling method, the data of the all patients were obtained. The data of the files of 15 patients who underwent LVAD within the specified dates were examined retrospectively. RESULTS: It was found that 66.7% of the patients were male, 40.0% were over 50 years of age, 80% had heart disease, 13.1% had congenital heart disease, and 66.7% were hospitalized for 30 days or more. Complications occurred in 60.0% of the patients and these complications were 33.3% bleeding, 20.0% infection and 6.7% arrhythmia. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Development of bleeding, infections and arrhythmias in Patients with LVAD was determined less. In order to determine the complication factors and to evaluate the success of the treatment, it is suggested to prepare the patient observation forms in detail and carefully fill them out, regularly filing them later, giving the nurses training about LVAD and more research with LVAD in larger patient samples |
5. | Elderly Individuals Investigation of Antihypertensive Drugs Use Error Kadriye Sayın Kasar, Ayfer Karadakovan doi: 10.5543/khd.2017.39200 Pages 20 - 27 INTRODUCTION: This study in the elderly antihypertensive medication errors and the factors affecting the investigation conducted a descriptive study. METHODS: The collection of data was used a questionnaire based on literature created by the researcher. The study sample consisted of 104 elderly individuals. RESULTS: The elderly individuals participating in the study drug use error rate was found to be 57.7%. Made drug errors; the timely be taken of drugs, do not forget to take drugs, mixing drugs, take the wrong dose of drugs, taking drugs incorrectly is investigated its own decision to leave drugs. In this study, women, and over three days in taken drug, in which the use of antihypertensive drugs other than and those who read the prospectus of the drug used by drug use was significantly higher error rate (p<0.05). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Study results drug use error rates were higher in elderly individuals using antihypertensive drugs. Antihypertensive drug use errors and the knowledge of the factors affecting this group of patients is thought to be important in the maintenance and management effectiveness of treatment. |
